Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question that isn't addressed here, please
let us know.
- What else powers Skip's List — how is it supported?
-
First of all, all services used by PWD are free. No fine print,
no cost-per-word, no gotchas. However, Skip's List requires
financial support to pay the staff and pay for monthly operating
expenses such as the ISP [internet service provider]. In
addition, the first year's cost of establishing Skip's List -
all the designing and programming expenses - came from a
personal loan from Skip. It became time to reimburse him. While
we intend to keep Skip's List free of obnoxious banners and pop
ups, you might notice those subtle ads along the right side of
some pages. Those ads are paid by vendors of disability-related
goods and services. There is also the Directory of Goods and
Services. Not only do these areas bring us income, they also
provide a service to our consumers to answer the routine
question, "Where do I find a particular good or service?"
- What public service does Skip's List provide?
-
Our vision is that one day, all people with disabilities and
impairments will be able to communicate freely without
limitations due to differences in political orientation,
disability type, communication style, or geography. Access to
the Internet is a primary means of communication, education, and
employment. Studies have shown that a chief impediment to
employment for many PWD is a lack of accessible computer
equipment. Therefore, to assist many PWD to realize access to
the Internet as well as greater employment opportunities, Skip's
List will establish a foundation to donate a significant portion
of income to acquire accessible computer equipment for PWD.
